The main features of 7-Zip are:

  • Free software distributed under the GNU LGPL.
  • Supported formats: 7z, ZIP, CAB, RAR, ARJ, GZIP, BZIP2, TAR, CPIO and RPM.
  • 7-Zip provides compression ratios 2-10 % better than that provided by PKZip and WinZip for ZIP and GZIP formats.
  • Highest compression ratio available on the market with the new 7z format.
  • Self-extracting capability for files compressed with 7z method.
  • Integration with Windows shell.
  • Plugin for FAR Manager.
  • Powerful command line interface is also available.

There are two versions available, a stable version, 7zip224.exe, and a beta version, 7z230b21.exe.
