Gimp, "Gnu Image Manipulation Program", is arguably a reference for modern graphic programs. It features an impressive collection of filters and tools. Its creation required the writing of a powerful programing package, GTK.
The Gimp is completely controlable by scripts, which makes it a very versatile and powerful tool for automated graphic generation (for web pages for instance) or for applying the same changes to a large number of images.
The Gimp is often compared to Photoshop TM (v. 5), and most people who use both Gimp and its proprietary equivalents actually prefer the Gimp.
There are two versions of the Gimp available:
1.3.22 goes with gtk2 and works only on Pentium II or better
1.2.5 goes with gtk1.3
Before you can install The Gimp, you need to have GTK installed. GTK is included on this CD. To install GTK, click here.
