VideoLAN Client (vlc) es un reproductor multimedia multiplataforma. Puede leer DVDs, VCDs, archivos MPEG y DivX y desde una tarjeta para satélite bajo Linux, Windows, Mac OS X, BeOS, BSD, Solaris, QNX, iPaq... También puede leer una emisión desde una red, enviada por VideoLAN Server u otro origen. La emisión puede ser MPEG 2 TS en UDP o paquetes http monoemitido o multiemitidos en una red Ipv4 o Ipv6. VideoLAN es un proyecto de estudiantes franceses de la Escuela Central de Paris (École Centrale Paris) y programadores de todo el mundo. Sus objetivos principales es la emisión MPEG en red, pero también contempla un reproductor multimedia independiente.
