You can ask for a new language to be added to GNUWin.

Technical requirements

In order to add a new language we need at least the following:
  • The name of the language, UTF-8 encoded. As an example français.
  • A two letter (a-z) code for the language. As an example fr for French.
  • Two flags associated with the language. One is 20x12 pixels, just the flag (like this fr) the other is 50x40 pixels with the language as a header (like this fr).
  • The word "welcome" in the language.

Time required to translate

There are about 15 textpages to translate, requiring about 30 min each. There are more then 100 applications requiring about 10 to 20 min each. So we estimate the total time for a full translation to be from 30 to 50 hours.

Note: Most applications are only available in English. The GNUWin team just provides descriptions in different languages. If you want to translate an application, please contact the application's author.
